LAC Staff

Dr. R. Taylor Scott, DO
 
Dr. R. Taylor Scott, DO serves as the director of the LAC.  Dr. Scott has experience as medical educator in both pre and post graduate settings.  Dr. Scott has served as Clinical Skills coordinator at MSUCOM (Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine) as well as ODME at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing MI.  Dr. Scott also has a clinical practice on campus with the MSU Health Team and is jointly appointed in MSUCOM Department of Family and Community Medicine.  Dr. Scott has interests in the support of evaluation of healthcare professionals in a variety of fields and is especially interested in communication in healthcare.  He is board certified in Osteopathic Family Medicine.

Connie Turner, CMA

Ms. Turner serves as the Receptionist/ Health Care Assistant for the LAC. She is the main phone contact for the Center.  She also helps with the recruitment of Standardized Patients, preparations for events, participates in Simulation events and manages the BLS (Basic Life Support) Classes.

Rebecca McAdam, C.M.A.
 
Ms. McAdam serves as the Standardized Patient Coordinator for the LAC.  She brings background from medical technology, health care assistance, and previous work as the Simulation Coordinator in the College of Human Medicine.

Mary Kay Smith, RN, BSN

Ms. Smith serves part-time as Coordinator of Simulation Operations. Her primary appointment is in the MSU College of Nursing where she has served continuously since 1990 in the position of Simulation Lab Coordinator. This role integrates assessment of student skills and innovative teaching methodologies such as web-based instruction and high frequency simulations. Educational experience also includes employee and community educational program implementation. Her clinical background includes cardiac stepdown, ICU/CCU, Gastroenterology and currently ED. She is currently in the MSN Education track in the MSU College of Nursing.


Rebecca Cass

Rebecca Cass

Ms. Cass serves as the administrative assisstant to the Director. She also participates as a part- time  SP trainer and SIM coordinator. She brings a background of medical assistant, medical trascription, and medical records experience from Olin Health Center to her position.

Paul Donahue

Mr. Donahue serves as the Information Technology Manager for the LAC. He has a strong background in many areas of information technology including computer network, hardware, and software design, implementation and support. He served as the chairperson of the technical planning committee for the LAC. During this time he facilitated a diverse team of experts in many different fields of IT and audio/video production. This team is responsible for the state of the art computer and audio/video system at the LAC. Paul's current responsibilities at LAC include coordinating the research on and purchasing of all IT and audio/video equipment, overseeing the IT operations and coordinating support for these systems. Paul serves in a dual-role between LAC and as the Network/Security Manager at the CVM Information Technology Center.

Matt Koss

Mr. Koss serves as an Information Technology Professional in the Learning and Assessment Center. He brings background in network and computer support, user training, and audio-visual production. His main focus will be to operate and maintain the WebSP software for the facility. Matt is full-time with the LAC, also working for the Information Technology Center in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Mike Miller

Mr. Miller serves as an Information Technology Professional at the Learning and Assessment Center. He brings his background in desktop software implementation and support, network infrastructure, and server administration. He developed custom software deployment for all LAC workstations and laptops, and now assists Matt Koss and Paul Donahue in all of the IT needs for the LAC. Mike is part-time at the LAC, working most of his time at the College of Veterinary Medicine's Information Technology Center.

Eric Hildebrant

Eric serves as an Information Technology Professional for the Learning and Assessment Center. Eric brings in an array of knowledge for network, software, user and system support to the team. Eric is working part-time in assistance to Matt Koss to insure that the events of LAC run smoothly and simply.

 

LAC Affiliated Staff

Dianne Wagner, MD

Dr. Dianne Wagner serves as the liason between the LAC and allopathic graduate medical education. In that role she works with residency training programs to utilize the training and evaluation opportunities presented by the LAC's simulation equipment, standardized patients, and computer applications. These resources make it possible to create a "flight simulator" for medical training and assessment for the benefit of trainees at all levels as well as the patients they care for. Dr. Wagner is currently the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education in the College of Human Medicine. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine, and the Director of CHM's problem-based learning curriculum. She previously directed Clinical Skills, and has a busy Internal Medicine practice at the MSU Clinical Center.

David Solomon, PhD
 
Dr. Solomon is a medical educator based in the Office of Medical Education, Research and Development (OMERAD). He serves part-time as the Director of Psychometric Operations for the LAC.

Balazs Moldovanyi Balazs Moldovanyi
 
Designer and owner of WebSP, the software being used for scheduling, case development, event management and report generation in the Learning and Assessment Center. Mr. Moldovanyi developed the company Lionis to support this software application, which he operates from his native country of Hungary - see www.lionis.net

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee serves as the Advisory Body for the Learning and Assessment Center.  It meets monthly with the Director (second Wednesday from 8:15 to 10:00 AM in A 116 E. Fee Hall). Its members include:
